Part of the VERGE™ solution is NALTREXONE, an FDA approved medication that reduces your desire for alcohol after drinking has stopped. Naltrexone blocks the parts of your brain that “feels” pleasure when you use alcohol. When these areas of the brain are blocked, you feel less of a need to drink alcohol, and you can stop drinking more easily.
During your initial visit with Dr. Weng, you will be provided with a private assessment and your medical history will be reviewed. After your medical review he may prescribe Naltrexone to help you stop drinking.
While Naltrexone is not a complete cure, combined with our targeted, solution-oriented self-help CD, you will be receiving researched based, comprehensive Treatment for alcohol problems.
Disclaimer: Patients should not receive Naltrexone if they:
- Have active liver disease.
- Receive or are dependent on Opiods (patient must be free of opiod products for a minimum of 7-10 days.)
- Have a previous hypersensitivity (adverse reaction) to Naltrexone.
- Are pregnant or planning on getting pregnant.
